America Forwards=Alina Anger

This is a forward which I got in my email today from one of my friends. At the bottom is my opinion...haha.

THIS WAS IN A TAMPA NEWSPAPER

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we
continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other
countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of
Choice??????
Think about it!
All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?
I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by
everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to
be Season's Greetings.
It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this
winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?
We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend
anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with
that. This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an
American citizen, published in a
Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist
attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who
is seeking a better life by coming to America.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As
Americans...... we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has
been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions
of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian,
right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian
men and women.......on Christian principles............founded this nation.....
and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world
as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or
you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his opinion and we
will allow you every opportunity to do so!
But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping.......
about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our
way of life....I highly encourage you to
take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up
If you agree -- pass this along;
if you don't agree -- delete it!
AMEN
I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends
(and enemies) it will also, sooner or later
get back to the complainers, lets all try, please!

Alina's Word:
Alright. I am one of the complainers and it made it back to me like the creators of this controversial forward have hoped (I only wish I knew who wrote the articles)...I have something to say about it too, I won't just simply delete it as they've asked me to. Here we go:
So, in my opinion, these articles are not thought out very well. First of all, I don't believe I saw the words "The United States of America", it was always referred to as "America". Okay article writers, you realize that "America" includes both North, South and central America! This means you are including, not only the United States of America, but Canada, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brasil, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay! Just because the United States people were too lazy to decide an actual NAME for our land doesn't mean we can only say the last word of "our" country's name and simply call it "America" because we are not just "America".
Another thing in these articles that bothers me is the "Christmas Break" thing. You can call it "Christmas Break" if you want to, but it's not. Yes, Christmas does fall on December 25, but Kwanzaa and Hannukah happen around that time too and we shouldn't just call it "Christmas Break" because Christmas is a Christian holiday and since we advocate acceptance in the United States of America it is only right, in schools and other public areas when one is talking to strangers, to say "Winter Break", does that really offend you? Generalization has been a way of life in the USA for as long as the white people came and took over the Native American's lands.
This is the biggy now...In the article it says, "As Americans we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom." Wait...this confuses me, who's side are the articles on? This sounds like an arguement I could use to hurt the articles. If our country has been developed "over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories", who says the people who make the United States of America their home shouldn't help develop this land even further? After all, the different cultures (including languages, foods, etc) are what make the USA interesting. I bet the people who wrote these articles favorite food is Mexican, Italian or even Chinese. Are they trying to say they want the USA to come to a stand still? Basically it sounds like we're done with developing. This developing has been occuring so long, who says it should stop?
Those are my opinions and there are far more things in these articles that I could complain about but I'm done now. One last couple rants though:
"We" (as the article referred to all of the USA people in one word) are all supposedly against other cultures "taking over" our society completely. In the article writer's own words, other cultures "dilute our sovereignty and our national identity." Sounds a little bit like the Ku Klux Klan's idea that non-whites "pollute" the nation...doesn't it? A wee bit creepy, I'd say.
Love,
Alina
P.S. I am against saying the word "God" in our national anthem and posting "In God We Trust" on anything. That is why I sit down during the pledge and am happy that they don't paste "In God We Trust" on schools. If they did, I wouldn't be part of the "We". All I can say is that I am tolerant even when I believe things shouldn't be done...even complaining as these articles, themselves, are complaining about. Complaining about complaining...and now I'm complaining about complaining about complaining. Ridiculous!

The Danish Got In Some Deep Poo

So...let's talk about the Danish, shall we? For some reason I'm happy that they created a stir so the people's hate isn't completely directed at the United States, but at the same time I feel pity for them because the peace loving Danes aren't used to it. Aww, poor things. Don't get me wrong, I admire Denmark (not that I know that much about it) but sometimes you shouldn't write goofy cartoons about seemingly already-angry-enough religious groups. It's amusing/frightening that these cartoons by an artist could start such a giant uproar against the entire population of Danish citizens.
The Islamic practice forbids any representation of Muhammed along with a human representation and this is why these cartoons are causing such a fuss.
Many other religious groups have figured out that no matter what they do, someone somewhere,
will make some figurine or draw a picture of their Lord...possibly even make fun of their Lord and the people who worship Him. This has not been realized/accepted by the Islamic people and is finally being faced. The Islamic people are reacting with great rage and hate. The way the rest of the world is looking at it is "They'll get over it...eventually."
One of the twelve arguable cartoons of Muhammed is on the right. The rest can be seen here.
Throughout the Muslim communities Danish products are being boycotted. Because of this the editor in chief of Jyllands-Posten (the Danish newspaper which published the cartoons) Carsten Juste wrote
"In our opinion, the 12 drawings were sober. They were not intended to be offensive, nor were they at variance with Danish law, but they have indisputably offended many Muslims, for which we apologize." Hell yes they have offended them! Are you kidding me? It's pretty obvious. It seems to me that the editor, Mr. Juste, just wrote this in order to sell the Danish products again! Ridiculous. Stand by your cartoons! (haha)
Some say that these cartoons being banned and such is hurting the "freedom of speech" rule. Some are also saying that the Muslims getting so angry at the rest of the world for mocking Muhammed is ridiculous and that Muslims need to understand other religions and how they just put up with other people making fun of their God. At the same time shouldn't the rest of the world be trying to understand why the Muslims feel so strongly about this and be at least attempting to come to an agreement?
The world seems to be thinking the Muslims are being ridiculous but this cartoon does seem to me a mocking of the Islamic culture...does it not?

Inspiration

Hi.

I was inspired by my friend The Angry Eye's site and decided I wanted to do the same thing as him...rant. Of course his rants are mostly about politics or FireFox, where as mine will probably be more than that considering I don't have much to say about those things. Once in awhile maybe I'll make a little politics speech about how an "Honest Politician" is an oxymoron and oil drilling is ridiculous but for now I'll just say "Blah". I'll deal with that later.

Umm...I'm an Alaskan and we should be part of Canada...and to that I say:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

As Alaska, we are part of the "True North" as Canadians say they are, therefore I conclude we should be part of them...Plus, foreign countrys aren't mad at them and they have cheaper drugs...Who doesn't want to be part of Canada? Jeezums!
